The “Landwirtschaft erliewen” project aims to introduce schoolchildren to the farming profession and improve their understanding of food production and livestock farming.

Am Kader vum Projet „Landwirtschaft erliewen“ kréie Schülerinnen a Schüler d’Méiglechkeet, e Verständnes dofir ze entwéckelen, wou eis Liewensmëttel hierkommen a wéi d’Prozesser a Verbindungen an der Landwirtschaft, der Natur an der Ëmwelt funktionéieren. De Projet encouragéiert Schoulen, Bauerenhäff besichen ze goen an esou landwirtschaftlech Betriber besser kennen ze léieren.
Nei ass, datt d’Bauerefra an de Bauer pro Besuch op hirem Haff eng Subventioun fir hir Aarbecht kréien. All d’Betriber, déi beim Projet matmaachen, hunn un enger Basisformatioun an de Beräicher Bauerenhaffpedagogik a Sécherheet deelgeholl. Ausserdeem gi si opgefuerdert, reegelméisseg u Best-Practice-Workshoppen deelzehuelen.
Who is behind it?
“Landwirtschaft erliewen” is a project run by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth and various stakeholders from Luxembourg’s agricultural sector.

Fro de Bauer
“Fro de Bauer” is an initiative of Lëtzebuerger Landjugend a Jongbaueren a.s.b.l., aimed at informing the Luxembourg public about modern agriculture. The members of the working group are dedicated young farmers who carry out their work on a voluntary basis. They see public outreach as one of the most important responsibilities that agriculture has in today’s society.
Another goal of the initiative is to educate young people about current methods of food production in the region and about livestock farming.
To raise awareness in primary schools, particularly in cycle 4, several specialists have been appointed. Their role is to give children a better understanding of agriculture. A range of topics are covered, including fruit and vegetable production, arable farming, milk production and meat production. There is a particular focus on explaining to children what seasonal and regional products are. The project runs throughout the school year and includes one visit by a specialist to the school each term. In the final term, there is also the option of visiting a local farm.
