LANDWIRTSCHAFT ERLIEWEN

What is
Landwirtschaft erliewen?

The project “Landwirtschaft erliewen” (Experiencing farming) aims to bring schools and farms together. It gives pupils the chance to discover the work of farmers first-hand and learn all about food production and livestock farming in the region.

The project is aimed at school classes in primary education cycles 3 and 4. There are plans to extend it to further cycles in the near future.

Today’s children often know very little about farming. But they are the adults of tomorrow – and that is exactly why we, as farmers, need to step in! Agriculture is the foundation of life. We need to help children reconnect with it so they understand how nature works and learn to respect it. The German word “Lebensmittel” says it all: Food is quite literally a means to live! That’s why it is so important for the future and the reputation of agriculture that we, as farmers, open up our farms and help children rediscover what it’s all about. Contact with animals is a key part of this, as they have a positive and calming effect on people. Animals are good for the soul!

Direct contact between farmers and schoolchildren is incredibly valuable. It offers a unique opportunity to experience first-hand where our food comes from and develop a deeper understanding of natural and environmental processes. These personal encounters help build trust and raise awareness of the vital role that farming plays in our daily lives. Experiences like these not only broaden children’s knowledge about sustainable production, but also build respect for nature and for the people who grow our food.
